Profibus Interface - The Siemens Group pioneered this form of communications and they also created the Profi Institute (PI) to manage it. Utilizing a shared media, bus, ProfiBus uses General Station Description (GSD) files to establish communications between controllers and devices in the field. Device configuration information is stored on the MASTER and downloaded to field devices as required.
